The nation’s leading construction economists build the latest AIA Consensus Forecast
January 27, 2020
Looking ahead at commercial construction for 2020
The American Institute of Architects, or AIA, compiles information from sources including Dodge Data & Analytics, Construct Connect, Wells Fargo Securities, and Associated Builders and Contractors to get consensus on construction forecasts across a range of non-residential building categories. Twice a year, the panelists project business conditions over the coming 12 to 18 months.
Among the non-residential construction sectors, retail and other commercial projects offer the brightest forecast, with a projected 0.3% uptick in 2020 as compared to a negative 0.8% decline in 2019, according to the most recent consensus forecast.
